چکیده
A Brillouin optical time-domain analysis (BOTDA) scheme based on hybrid amplification, consisting of a distributed Raman amplification and lumped provided by remotely pumped Erbium-doped fibers, is proposed thoroughly studied, enabling longest sensing distance among existing repeaterless techniques. First, the criteria for optimizing powers entering fiber are defined. Then, walk-off effect in forward associated self-phase modulation pointed out analyzed to describe BOTDA pulse distortion its impact balanced detection used relative intensity noise mitigation. compensating approach mitigate signal distortion, guaranteeing safe use an ultra-long sensor. The combination all approaches mentioned above validated two types loop configurations, with 150 200 km real remoteness, both constituting record-high performance each case.

Bi-Directional Brillouin Optical Time Domain Analyzer System for Long Range Distributed Sensing
We propose and experimentally demonstrate a novel scheme of bi-directional Brillouin time domain analyzer (BD-BOTDA) to extend the sensing range. By deploying two pump-probe pairs at two different wavelengths, the Brillouin frequency shift (BFS) distribution over each half of the whole fiber can be obtained with the simultaneous detection of Brillouin signals in both channels. Compared to the c...
متن کاملSweep-free distributed Brillouin time-domain analyzer (SF-BOTDA).
A frequency-sweep-free method for distributed Brillouin sensing is proposed, having the potential for fast dynamic strain measurements. In this reported implementation of the method, multiple probe waves with carefully chosen optical frequencies simultaneously propagate in the fiber against an equal number of sequentially-launched, short pump pulses of matching frequencies, where each of pump-p...
متن کاملDouble-pulse pair Brillouin optical correlation-domain analysis.
Brillouin optical correlation-domain analysis (B-OCDA) allows for distributed measurements of strain and temperature with sub-cm resolution. Time-multiplexing techniques have previously extended B-OCDA to the monitoring of many km of fiber and two million resolution points. Thus far, however, the number of scans of correlation peaks positions, necessary to cover the fiber under test, was restri...
متن کاملHigh-resolution long-reach distributed Brillouin sensing based on combined time-domain and correlation-domain analysis.
A new scheme for distributed Brillouin sensing of strain and temperature in optical fibers is proposed, analyzed and demonstrated experimentally. The technique combines between time-domain and correlation-domain analysis. Both Brillouin pump and signal waves are repeatedly co-modulated by a relatively short, high-rate phase sequence, which introduces Brillouin interactions in a large number of ...
متن کاملBrillouin optical time-domain analysis assisted by second-order Raman amplification.
We propose and experimentally demonstrate a new method to extend the range of Brillouin optical time domain analysis (BOTDA) systems. It exploits the virtual transparency created by second-order Raman pumping in optical fibers. The idea is theoretically analyzed and experimentally demonstrated in a 50 km fiber. By working close to transparency, we also show that the measurement length of the BO...
